Confusion species : Cerodontha luzulae, Chromatomyia luzulae.

Puparium : Posterior spiracles widely separated, each with three strongly elongated nulbs, that stand out from their base.

Adult : Third antennal segment with long hairs, longer than basal width of arista. Lunule lower than semicircle, broad. Antenna brownish-black, lunule silvery-grey.
